Fear has done it again! Land of Strength and Sorrow was such an fantastic fast paced read. This epic fantasy shines a light on princesses like no other fantasy novel I have ever read. Her writing style and way with descriptions kept the book vivid almost as if I was watching a movie and not reading. This review is short and to the point... if you haven't already... read this book!
I choose to go back and read the first two books before reading and reviewing her third book and believe me I am so glad I did! My statement is to never giveaways any spoilers when reviewing a book and with the Remnants of Yesterday, it is really hard for me to stick by that rule! This book really grips you as a reader and it makes you want to read more from Ava!
This is the perfect book to end the perfect (in highly a tear-jerker, and very emotional way) to end the Broken by the Sea trilogy. This book for me really hit home, a friend of mine who is like another sister to me went through something very similar to what Misty does in this book. Ava writes this in such a real way that it makes you let the world suck you in and for just a little bit you become Misty and take on all of her problems and emotions - well really everything she does go through. I honestly had no idea I was crying in parts until my sister asked me if everything was okay, that's how good this book is.
There is a lot of references, for me, that is, to her previous books so before you go and read this one I recommend you going and reading "Forgetting Yesterday" and "Return to Yesterday" which are her first two books! While with a little extra backstory given this book could be a stand-alone, I personally think you as a reader will not get the full effect of the book and what it means and the emotions that Ava, the author, is trying to put off.
The emotional rollercoaster the author puts you through is not one I would trade off for anything else. Ava, I have never read anything you have written until now but you have gained a reader for life and I will be eagerly awaiting your next book!
