This is an emotionally driven story that makes you really feel things you haven't felt in a long time and in a whole new way. Everything from the characters to the plot itself was completely relatable and takes you back to your high school years! I have read Cassandras other novels and while they were good none of them compared to the emotions that this one held. It made me laugh, cry, and scream at the book all at the same time. I love to read and while most of my books are ebooks I have to have a physical copy of this one because I know it's one I want to be able to read over and over again.
More times than not contemporary YA novels really don't give you the realism of teen years and of high school. They give you this fantasy of what you want to see/read. They often lack a sense of honesty, hope, and more importantly it shows how teens feel pain, how they are cruel, how they feel with everything they are or nothing at all.
Overall, I'd say this is a novel that will take you on a rollercoster of emotions and read much quicker than would may think. This is a highly reccomeneded read and I can't wait to see what else Fear has coming out in this series.

I received my copy of Bridges, from the author in exchange for an honest review... so here goes my review. I did not read the first book in this series, however... that doesn't effect me reading this book at all. I think the author did something I have not come accross in a long time she wrote a sequel that easily was mistaken as a stand alone. This is a novel that revolves around the friendship between 3 best friends. They are a supportive bunch with lots of love that circles back around to the 3 of them. I loved reading about Skylar, Daphne and KC, I have one friend that really reminds me of the friendship they have in this book. I have but one critique for Murnane, the dialogue was much to formal at times for what would be between best friends.
Murnane, easily enwarps you into her world with her incredible writing style and pulls you into her vision of NY. Her descriptions are so vivid its like your actually there. She has become the newest author on my radar.

I want to first mention that Surrounded by Flames is the second book of the Flame Trilogy and the sequel to Above the Flames, which I read and reviewed earlier this year. I also want to note that I was given an ARC in exchange for my honest thoughts on her novel. Above the Flames was an incredible novel that hooks you into the world Cassandra created, this part of the trilogy brings her world to life which makes it impossible to put the book down.
This review is probably the hardest I have written to date, not because I didn't like the book but because I loved it so much and I can't explain properly just how amazing this book is. Surrounded by Flames raises to a whole other level of intense fantasy novels, the imagery that is laced throughout the novel really makes this book even that much better than the first.
If your into high fantasy novels, and the battle between good and evil then this book definitely is for you.
