This is the first book in A Cambria Fairy Tale Series. While this was a very unoriginal idea the book itself, and the way Theresa wrote it is what made it one of a kind. This book is that of fantasy and fairies way of life. While if you have ever read a fairy tale before it carries quite true to them. Raine, the main character was easy to relate to and a lot of fun to read. By the time I was done it was like I really knew her.
I do have to note while some may like the cheesy, and in parts a bit too cheesy. Its like Raine's romance progression is like a Disney movie, headstrong and fast but really realistic. I think that this novel has some nice secret messages that really are brilliant and hit home hard.
Overall, this is a really good story; I do think that there were parts that I knew was going to happen before I read them, which is the main reason I am rating this a 3 star not a 4 or 5 Star. Another reason for my rating will have to be the pacing. This book seemed to progress so fast it is almost too fast.
I think her series has a lot of potential to grow and I think this is a great story for someone in the age range of 13 and 18 but not really to many people older than that.
Overall Rating: 3 Star
I want to start out by saying this is the second book in The Gift Saga, it is the sequel to Evanthia's Gift(which I also reviewed and highly recommend you starting with that book). I was given both books in exchange for an honest review and this is one time I have never been more grateful that I was. Both books in this saga (well, and her entire saga) has been highly influenced by her Greek heritage, which she displays beautifully for her readers to see.
This story picks up right where the Evanthia's Gift left off and is just as beautifully written! It is about the meaning of true friendship with a side dish of love and romance. Through out the second book you get the chance to see new and familiar faces (from the first novel) that is able to add intensity to each chapter you read.
Waiting for Aegina, is a lot more dynamic and dramatic than Evanthia's Gift however Effie's amazing abilities to capture and draw on readers emotions is spot on from the first novel. This book is a lot like is predecessor in the way of it being an honest heartfelt book about greek life. I have never read a book much like these, that make you feel that your from Greece and that you and Sophia are friends in real life...
This is only Effie's second book and I can tell this series, saga, whatever you want to call it will be a classic. I read almost the entire book on Monday and saved the last chapter for last night and I was not disappointed. I honestly am eagerly awaiting the next book in this incredible saga.
Overall Rating: 6 Stars (The first two books in this series blew me away).
Evanthia's Gift is a beautifully written story with incredible character that will stay on your mind even if you have already finished reading.
This book is the first of The Gift Series, and it is one for the ages. This story is one of the most real and passionate novel's I have read in a really long time. If I could compare this book to any other book it would be Little Women because of the close family and heartbreaking moment that Effie was able to create. The pace and flow of this kept me earning for more and it a wonderful feeling (probably not as wonderful as knowing I had the second book ready to start reading as soon as I wrote this review.) to have.
I will not lie, I am Leary of books that are more than 500 pages and is the first part/beginning of a series. However, this book doesn't seem to be that long, it is close to 550 pages but its this wonderful literary piece that makes you think and feel in ways you may never have felt or ways you haven't felt in a really really long time.
Effie, I want to thank you for the copy of the first two books of this series, I have not started the second one (but trust me when I say that I will after I post this) but I know that if it is half as good as Evanthia's Gift than it will be well worth the read. This is the only book I have ever wanted to rate more than a 5 star. If I could I would rate this a 6 or 7 star. This book is absolute perfection.
Overall Rating: 6/7 out of 5 Star
