Background information of Characters from Fae Wish (A Cambria Fairy Tale) by: Theresa Oliver
Raine: Raine is the princess of the Magical Forest, a kingdom in the land of Cambria. When the book begins, she is a fairy, no bigger than a butterfly. She has blonde hair blue eyes—all fairies in Cambria have blue eyes. She is to be the next Queen of the Magical Forest. Since Raine is now 16 years old, she is expected to marry another fairy in her kingdom, a man to be chosen by her father.
Bryce: Bryce is a human and is sworn to protect the rightful queen of Cambria, Briana. He thinks of her as his sister. He has blond, short-cropped hair, muscled, tanned, and gorgeous. In Fae Wish, he is training to become a full-fledged knight of Cambria, and is sworn to protect the rightful queen of Cambria, Briana. When he meets Raine, he is instantly attracted to her, even though she was the size of a butterfly. He is very protective by nature.
Herman of Cambria: Herman is the main sorcerer of Cambria and is the son of Merlin himself. He came to the land of Cambria with Tristan, one of the Knights of the Round Table, when they were shipwrecked on the shore of modern day St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada. He was one of the original founders of Cambria, a land where
dragons, flying unicorns, and magic are commonplace. He wants Cambria to survive against all odds, and thinks of himself as the protector of the human inhabitants and those who err on the side of right. He is noble, and his accent is the combination of a British accent and an Irish brogue. He is older, has white hair and a pointed white beard. He does not age.
King Adair: He is the King of the Magical Forest within Cambria. He is stern and believes in the old ways, but loves his daughters. He also loves his kingdom and his subjects and will protect them at all cost. He is older, has white hair, cut short, and attractive, despite his age. His wife died when his youngest daughter was young, which made him a bit hard.
Earthen: Earthen is Raine’s younger sister by only one year. Even though she is technically younger than Raine, she is sensible and wise beyond her years. She has brown hair and blue eyes—all the fairies in Cambria have blue eyes. Even though she is younger, she comes off as being older than Raine because of her advanced maturity and wisdom. She is sensible and wants to do what’s right for her kingdom, but also loves her sisters and will protect them.
Mistie: Mistie is Raine’s and Earthen’s carefree, younger sister. She is wild and carefree—the opposite from Earthen. She loves to take risks, believes in love, but is often reckless. Despite her reckless nature, she loves her sisters. She also believes in true love and is in love with idea of being in love. She has bright auburn hair and blue
Colin: Colin is Briana’s protector and has raised her as his own child since she was a baby after finding her in the castle. He is sworn to protect her and thinks of her as his own child. He has a son about her age, Seth. His mother fled with him back to her own time—the story is in Cambria—leaving him alone. Raising Briana has helped to fill the void of not having his own son with him. He loves her as his own daughter, and thinks of Bryce and Reese as his sons, even though they are knights-in-training and sworn to protect Briana. He thinks of them as his own children and they have become a family. He believes in Cambria and is biding time until Briana can rise and take her rightful place as Queen of Cambria. Colin has given his life for Cambria and its survival.
Reese: In Fae Wish, Reese is a knight-in-training, has long brown hair and brown eyes. He is much milder in nature than Bryce and quieter, but will protect Briana and Cambria at all cost. He has come to think of Colin, Bryce, and Briana as his family. He and Bryce and Briana are very much like brothers and sisters. They banter, but will protect each other no matter what. In Fae Wish, Reese is 16 years old.
Briana: In Fae Wish, Briana is just 14 years old. Her true father was King Oreck of Cambria and was killed when she was a baby when Dracon overthrew Cambria. In order to keep from being taken as her husband’s murderer’s wife, Briana’s mother, Queen Cassandra, hid Briana in a secret room and killed herself by drinking poison, leaving Briana an orphan as a baby. Colin found Briana and raised her as his own. She thinks of Colin as her father, even though she knows that her true father was King Oreck of Cambria. Briana is sweet and nice, but is strong and will stand up to whoever threatens her surrogate family. She thinks of Reese and Bryce as her brothers. She is undergoing training with Colin and awaiting the day when she will regain her rightful place as Queen of Cambria. Secretly, she wants to fall in love one day, but will sacrifice everything for Cambria, knowing that she will have to marry for duty and not for love one day.
Virtra: Virtra is also called the Dragon Queen. She is a very old and powerful, evil witch, but looks young and beautiful, with the help of her magic. She is secretly in love with Dracon and will do anything to help him keep his status as King of Cambria. She is evil and later in the series, we find out that she is a dragon shifter, as well. She has brown hair—almost black—and brown eyes. She is gorgeous, but evil to the core. She wants to marry Dracon and become Queen of Cambria on day, even though he is only using her for her magic. She is jealous of any woman who he even looks at.
Dracon: In Fae Wish, Dracon is the current King of Cambria. He had attacked Cambria and killed Briana’s real father, King Oreck of Cambria, when she was a baby. He has brown hair, is attractive, and later in the series we find out that he is a dragon shifter. He is evil to the core, and is in love with the idea of one day marrying in a royal line to secure his throne. He will protect his reign as King of Cambria at all cost. Later in the series, he shows that he does have a heart, even though he is still evil. He is the hero of his own story in his own mind. He learned at a young age that you must take what you want by force—no matter whom you hurt.
