Hello and welcome HeatherBloggs for this awesome Author interview!
Let's get you introduced to everyone, shall we? Tell us your name.
Where are you from?
I am from Nicholasville, Kentucky. Born and raised. It is a small city just outside of Lexington, Kentucky.
A little about yourself (ie, your education, family life, etc.).
I am a mother of two wild little boys, a wife to the most patient man you will ever meet, and a fur-baby momma to two boxer pups who are equally as wild as my boys. My life centers around my family and most days you will find me at the baseball or soccer field with my boys; but I still find time to put my creative energy to good use. I am constantly drumming up new ideas for books and writing notes that I leave all around my house with dialogue, scenes, and ideas for the next story.
I am a middle school English teacher and my student's have become my toughest critics. I tend to rely on them to give me their advice on story ideas, cover designs, and sometimes they get to read an advanced copy of a new book.
Tell us your latest publishing news.
My newest release is Everpure: Book 2 in the Shifter Chronicles. I am really excited about this novel and this new series. After finishing the Wicked Cries series I jumped right into this one and I fell in love with my characters and this story line opens me up to new conflicts that I love.
When and why did you begin writing?
I have been writing for as long as I can remember. My mom has a book I wrote in second grade that my teacher bound for her to keep. I first became published though after college.
When did you first consider yourself a writer?
I think when I held my first published book in my hands I finally considered myself a writer. It never felt real until that moment.
What inspired you to write your first book?
I have always been inspired by events and elements around me. I love to tell stories and I just have to get the characters out of my head, haha.
How did you come up with the title for your latest novel?
When I began writing the first book in the Shifter Chronicles series, Evershade just stuck out to me. I decided to keep that theme rolling and since the characters in Everpure are fighting a battle against good and evil, I decided on Everpure. They are trying to keep themselves pure even when faced with evil.
How much of the book is realistic and are experiences based on someone you know, or events in your own life?
Honestly, all of my books contain events that truly happened in my life. I just twist them a little.
What is your favorite book of all time?
This is a hard question. I love the babysitter series and The Outsiders.
Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?
All of my novels have a message embedded in them. As a mom and educator, I want to ensure that my readers learn something whether that is to be empowered, stand up for others, always rely on those that love you, or to just always be brave; I want my novels to be fun, entertaining, but also to give the reader a sense of belonging.
Thanks Michelle for joining me today! I wish you all the best on your upcoming release!
